modern equipment review Spotlight: Laser and Waterjet HigH-Precision Waterjet DesigneD for reliability mild steel, with a workpiece weight capacity of 3,527 lbs. The laser-cutting system is equipped with the company's automated AO|5 setup, said to improve productivity and maintain cutting c o n d i ti o n s w h e n u s i n g va r i o u s wo r k p i e c e materials. A 4,000-W Type-10 resonator featuring an efficient Eco mode is said to lower operation costs. The machine features the PreView control with a 15" touchscreen and a graphical interface that visualizes the cutting path. The control automatically determines process conditions, including the required lens, nozzle feed rate and laser output for dif ferent materials and thicknesses. MC Machinery Systems offers the MWX4-612 waterjet cutting machine, featuring a new taper control servomotor-driven system with a larger A-axis tilt angle and unlimited rotating-angle C axis for straighter parts in thicker material. Travels measure 72" × 114" × 8" (1,829 × 3,658 × 200 mm), and the machine accommodates workpieces ranging to 82" × 153" × 8" (2,083 × 3,886 × 200 mm) in size. Positioning speed is 687 ipm (22.022 m/min.). The adjustable slat table is located by slots and the height is adjusted by the indicated flat bar. The machine features a pressurized abrasive hopper with a 670-lb capacity, and a 60-hp, 90,000-psi pump. A 125-hp, 125,000psi pump is available as an option.
