Machining | Sweden | Jan Haraldsson | Machining Specialist What product can save you a "hole" lot of money? The American fabricator Numerical Precision was looking for new ways to improve productivity by cutting lead times and increasing throughput in their plant. The company produces critical components for marine drilling. The backbone of the risers has, so far, been produced using Sandvik SANMAC® 2205 duplex solid bar. In order to reduce processing time for the machining of parts, Sandvik suggested the fabricator switch from solid bar to hollow bar. Sandvik SANMAC 2205 duplex hollow bar offers the same excellent tolerances and the same mechanical properties as solid bar. By using hollow bar in near net shape close to the finished part dimensions, Numerical Precision saved 2-3 weeks in lead time. This way, the company has been able to obtain more business and continue the company's growth. CHALLENGE YOUR EXPECTATIONS Sandvik and SANMAC are trademarks owned by Sandvik Intellectual Property AB. www.smt.sandvik.com
