The end mill range features updated corner geometries, a 50-degree helix angle, and cutting edges with the company's AlTiNX coating to protect from heat generated in the cutting zone, even under extreme cutting conditions. The aggressive, high- performance end mills are said to reliably produce quality surface finishes. The Omega M7 line is available in sizes ranging End Mills iMprovE productivity in HardEnEd stEEls E d ito r S tE PH A N i E M o N SA Nt Y, s m o n s a n t y @ m m s o n l i n e.c o m from 1 / 8 " to 3 / 4 " in a variety of lengths, with neck relief and corner radii as standard options. The M725 tools (sizes 1 / 8 " to 3 / 16 ") have five flutes, while the M726 tools (sizes 1 / 4 " to 3 / 4 ") have six flutes for more cutting edge engagement per rotation, higher ipm in hardened steels and increased tool life. The chuck system enables switching between mandrels, collet chucks, face drives and centers without needing to remove the power chuck from the machine tool. The Duro-NCSE Flex works like a standard three-jaw chuck but features a bayonet-style connection so that only an attachment system is changed to switch clamping devices. The chuck is well-suited for short bar-feeding applications (4 ft.) because it provides increased support at the machine tool spindle, the company says. The chuck reduces the amount of prepara- tion cutting needed, as well as material waste. An added dead-length collet chuck generates more suppor t for longer sections of barstock. 0614_MMS_tooling.indd 144 5/14/2014 8:51:07 AM
