PMTS is the only show in North America dedicated to the precision machining industry, drawing hundreds of exhibitors displaying machining and turning centers, Swiss-type lathes, rotary transfer machines, grind- ers, EDMs and related tooling, workholding, software, and more. The development is in response to demands from customers who work with materials that are dif- ficult to machine and require greater throughput, the company says. In trials, the new substrates and coatings resulted in longer tool life. The EG35 grade has demonstrated as much as 60 percent longer tool life when turning cobalt chrome at 1,0 0 0 N/mm 2 . This grade enables the tool to machine diameters ranging from 0.2 to 6.8 mm (0.008" to 0.268") in tough materials while increas- ing return on investment, the company says.
