In trials, the new substrates and coatings resulted in longer tool life. The EG35 grade has demonstrated as much as 60 percent longer tool life when turning cobalt chrome at 1,0 0 0 N/mm 2 . This grade enables the tool to machine diameters ranging from 0.2 to 6.8 mm (0.008" to 0.268") in tough materials while increas- ing return on investment, the company says.
