GRADES' COATING REDUCES FRICTION IN GROOVING, PARTING Walter USA has introduced three new Walter Cut GX Tiger-tec Silver CVD grooving and par ting grades (WKP13S, WKP23S and WKP33S) for use on steel and cast iron applications. The grades are available with the company's UD4, UA4, UF4 and RD4 geometries, as well as its GD3 and CE4 plunge-grooving and parting geometries. They also include wear-resistant materials that are said to boost cutting parameters while maintaining or improving tool life. The grades' thicker coating features aluminum oxide with a microstructure designed to reduce friction for resisting crater wear and enhancing cutting speeds.
