Designed for industrial -scale manufacturing environments, the solution is said to lower operating costs while increas- ing production volume capabilities. According to HP, the system raises the break-even point for large-scale 3D manufacturing to 110,000 parts and provides a lower cost-per-part (CPP) compared to other 3D print- ing methods. The new solution includes hardware and firmware upgrades for existing Jet Fusion systems to improve overall system efficiency and enable continuous oper- ation, including a new processing station capable of handling higher materials volumes. Customers who pur- chase the HP Jet Fusion 3D 4210 Printing Solution will also benefit from shared service contracts and lower pricing on its materials and agents, the company says. HP has also announced the expansion of its Open Materials Platform with new partners Dressler Group and Lubrizol, as well as three forthcoming materials: HP 3D High Reusability PA 11, HP 3D High Reusability PA 12 Glass Beads, and HP 3D High Reusability Polypro- pylene. It can be used to 3D print, repair and clad metallic parts in a range of materials with speed and accuracy, the com- pany says. The first machine of this type is complete and is slated to be installed at University of California - San Diego's Department of Nanotechnology. Blue lasers can process materials that infrared lasers cannot process or can only process in low yields. The absorption of the L-series machine's blue laser is said to be between 3 and 20 times better than the industry-standard infrared wavelength, resulting in process speeds that are between 2 and 10 times faster.
