MMS AUGUST 2018 194 IMTS 2018 Grinding and Abrasive Machining Thread Grinder Can Be Equipped with Internal, External Grinding Spindles Drake Manufacturing's GS:DS dual-spindle thread grinder expands the company's line of thread grinders and milling machines. Depending on the application, the machine can be equipped with two external grinding spindles, two inter- nal grinding spindles or one of each. This flexibility is meant to eliminate change-over and reduce time while maintaining tight tolerances. A programmable B axis enables the wheel to grind both straight and taper sections in one setup for high concentricity. | Drake Manufacturing Acquisition LLC North, Level 3, Booth 236927 Microblasting System Designed to Safely Refine Small Parts Comco is displaying its manual microblasting system, which includes the company's AccuFlo and ProCenter Plus. The company's micro-precision sandblasting systems use fine abrasives, miniature nozzles and abrasive feeds. They are designed for safety and intended as an alternative to knives, tumblers and chemicals for refining small, high-value parts. The systems remove conformal coating, deburr cross-drilled holes, texture titanium, and process intricate and delicate parts. The process is said to transition seam- lessly from manual to automated applications. | Comco Inc. | North, Level 3, Booth 237238 OD Cylindrical Grinders Enhance Positioning Accuracy Sharp Industries will display its OD-1524X outer-di- ameter cylindrical grinder for toolroom or produc- tion grinding applications. The CNC grinder has an OD grinding range from 8" to 24" and a distance between centers ranging from 20" to 80". Models with traveling wheelheads can grind lengths rang- ing to 160". The workhead can swivel 90 degrees counterclockwise and 30 degrees clockwise for var- ious grinding operations. The wheelhead travels on the saddle with hand-scraped and Turcite-coated V ways and flat ways. A 0.00002" linear feedback system is said to deliver high positioning accuracy and repeatability. The table travels on a cushion of oil with no metal-to-metal contact. An optional ID attachment is available for internal grinding operations. A FANUC Oi-TC CNC and drive system delivers pre- cise movement of the wheelhead and the table. Other optional accessories include crash control, gap control, a touch probe and an auto-sizing device. | Sharp Industries Inc. | South, Level 3, Booth 339084
