MMS NOVEMBER 2018 128 JEDD COLE | EDITOR | Modern Equipment Review Cleaning and Deburring SPOTLIGHT Air Wipe Dries, Cools and Cleans Small Diameters Exair's 3 / 8 " Super Air Wipe produces a 360-degree airstream that can blow off, dry, clean or cool the material passing through it. The split design can be clamped around continuously moving material such as wire, cable, pipe, hose and extruded shapes. The air wipe ejects a small amount of compressed air through a thin slotted nozzle that pulls in high volumes of surrounding room air. The airflow uniformly ejects from the 360 degrees of its inner diameter. Coupling brackets that hold each half of the air wipe together can be latched together or removed quickly and additional shims can be installed if more blowoff force is required. Air velocity can be varied with a pressure regulator and an on/off control pro- vides precision blowoff. | Exair Corp. | 800-903-9247 | Tool Speeds Cross-Bore Deburring Heule Precision Tool's COFA deburring tool is designed to provide front and back deburring on even and uneven surfaces. It is intended to speed production and reduce costs on jobs that previously required manual deburring of hard-to-reach cross bores. The tool is suit- able for a range of machine materials and surfaces, includ- ing sloped bores, and a variety of applica- tions, including forks, yokes, common rails, castings, tubes with cross bores and other workpieces with cross bores in main bores. | Heule Precision Tools 513-860-9900 Cleaner Replaces Volatile Solvents Houghton International has developed a cleaner to replace solvents in precision cleaning applications. Houghto-Rinse RTD is a water-based, nonflammable, ready-to-use cleaner that is designed to deliver good process performance and surface appearance in sur- face-finishing applications. The product can replace highly volatile solvents in applications where flammability, health, safety and environmental factors are concerns. The cleaner is designed to remove surface residues prior to final inspection, assembly or packaging. The company says it is safe for use on all surfaces including aluminum, steel, magnesium, plastics, painted surfaces and fiberglass. According to the company, its cleaning effectiveness and non-residue properties make it suitable for critical cleaning applications in which surface appearance is important. The product is also low-odor and contains rust prevention properties. | Houghton Intl. | 610-666-4000 |
