To achieve high-precision heavy grinding, the manual tailstock is mounted with a large -diamete r spindle that has be e n precisely processed. The GPS-30 offers a 300-mm swing over table, a maximum grinding diameter of 300 mm and a 500- to 2,000-mm distance between centers. Models with a center distance ranging to 750 mm are equipped with a compact workhead and tailstock units. The interactive, conversational programming system requires little programming knowledge to operate, the company says. The system auto- matically sets up optimum grinding patterns and conditions after an operator enters numeric figures for three items. Data for as many as 47 workpieces can be stored with maximum steps. Shigiya (USA) Ltd., call 847-325-4800 or visit shigiya.com. GRINDER INTEGRATES MACHINE, MOTORS, DRIVES, ENCODERS WITH OSP-P CONTROL Okuma's GA26W grinder is now equipped with Easy Operation OSP-P300G CNC control. Oku- ma's open architecture OSP-P control runs on a Windows-based platform and fully integrates the machine, motors, drives and encoders, enabling enhanced machine performance and true cus- tomization to suit particular machining needs. The Easy Operation control and touchscreen increase efficiency by enabling users to easily toggle between machine operations, program- ming and wheel preparation screens. According to Okuma, the CNC grinders' wheel- head traverse structure gives the machine a solid, compact footprint that saves valuable floor space while the user-friendly design eases loading va r i o u s wo r k p i e c e s fo r au to m ati o n i n h i g h- production environments. The rigid foundation paired with Okuma's hydrodynamic wheel spindle supports heavy-duty grinding. The 7.5-kW (15-kW optional) grinding wheel spindle is ideal for grind- ing mass-produced par ts with precision. The GA26W grinder is equipped with standard chat- ter control function that automatically adjusts wheel speed for accurate, stable machining. Features include IGAP+ conversational pro- gramming, a large 610-mm (24") grinding wheel, and a tailstock quill stroke of 50 mm.
