Finishing cycle times range from 30 to 60 seconds, depending on the workpiece design. The system's process channel features a single, U-shaped cross section to facilitate the move- m e n t of wo r k p i e c e a n d m e d i a t h r o u g h t h e finishing machine. The RKM plastic media used is said to produce quality finishing results within a maximum processing time of eight minutes. Processing time can be a d j u s t e d b y s i m p l y increasing the inclina- tion of the machine's processing bowl. Com- pared to systems with a s e p a r a te v i b r a to r y discharge channel, this system is designed to m o v e w o r k p i e c e s through the machine at a constant speed, pre- venting jams that could n i c k o r d e f o r m t h e workpieces. To p r e v e n t w o r k- piece damage during the separation cycle, a multi-deck, vibrator y screening unit with two steps and minimal drop h e i g hts i s u s e d. T h e undersized-media clas- s i f i c a t i o n s y s t e m i s e q u i p p e d w i t h a n adjustable bar screen to e n a b l e Ko v o l i s to specify the dimensions of u n d e r s i ze d m e d i a t h a t a r e t o b e d i s - charged. Because the f inished die castings do not require a sepa- rate cleaning procedure for the removal of media f i n e s f r o m t h e i r s u r- faces, the separation unit is equipped with a company's existing workpiece loader and hot-air belt drier were integrated into the finishing sys- tem's control.
