TOOLING AND WORKHOLDING MMS JANUARY 2018 120 mmsonline.com Roughing End Mill Enables High Feed Rates in Aluminum Inovatools' Primus HPC aluminum roughing end mill features a special entwined tooth system and opti- mized microgeometry. The tool, designed for inner cooling and multi-turning, enables high feed rates with quiet, low-vibration operation and low power consumption, according to the company. A special entwined profile with optimized chip control and a high-performance TaC coating eliminate the usual problems in cutting aluminum, such as adhesion tendency with built-up edges, welding deposits, chip caking and burr formation, the company says. The TaC coating, combined with cutting edge preparation, makes this tool resilient and prevents micro-chipping. The entwined profile's chip separators also contributes to longer tool life. These break the aluminum chips quickly, while the large chip grooves rapidly transport them away from the intervention zone with KSS coolant. Not only does this promote process security, but it also ensures low-vibration running for high surface quality, even during HPC roughing. The three-edged Primus is available in diam- eter ranges from 6 to 20 mm with inner cooling, multi-turning and HB shank design. | Ino vatools USA LLC 810-444-8745 | inovatools.eu Live Tooling for Haas Turret Heimatec, a manufacturer of live tooling for the North American machine tool industry, has made available an extensive line of tooling for the Haas BMT turret. The line includes a variety of driven tools (axial and radial drilling and milling heads) as well as static toolholders. Heimatec also offers specialty tools for this turret, including multi-spindle, adjustable angle and speed multipliers. | Heimatec Inc. | 847-749-0633 | heimatecinc.com Allied Machine & Engineering has added the AccuThread T3 to its line of thread mills. Designed for hardened or hard-to-machine materials such as stainless steel, tool steel and high-temp alloys, it machines only three threads at a time to reduce tool pressure and increase the chances of tool survival. The company says the thread mill provides longer tool life, less tool breakage and higher quality threads for machinists. Offered in both inch and metric shank options, the thread mill is made for deeper-than-standard threads, available in 2×D and 3×D sizes. Additional diameters are available on request. The company offers the thread mill for UN thread forms with pitches from #1-64 to 9/16"-12 as well as ISO thread forms with pitches from M2×0.40 to M12×1.75. In addition, the company's AM210 coating is offered on these thread mills, which is said to protect from excess wear and improve tool life. | Allied Machine & Engineering Corp. 330-343-4283 | alliedmachine.com Thread Mill Reduces Tool Pressure, Improving Tool Life
