MODERN EQUIPMENT REVIEW MMS MAY 2018 168 mmsonline.com Robotic Metrology System Automates Measurement Process Creaform has launched the R-Series Productivity Station and the R-Series Autocalibration Kit. Both are upgrades to its robotic metrology dimensional measurement solu- tion, which offers an efficient alternative to traditional shopfloor CMMs. The MetraScan 3D R-Series solution enables manu- facturing companies to combine both optical measure- ments and industrial automation to provide reliability and increase inspection cycles. It is said to provide actionable results with a smaller shop footprint, facili- tating integration. The mechanical and software upgrades to the line allow operators to run data acquisition while simul- taneously analyzing previously-acquired data to maximize throughput. Self-calibration limits the need for human involve- ment, which the company says increases through- put and enables 24/7 operation. Designed for shopfloor measurement applications, the system provides an automatic field calibration procedure eliminating accuracy drift over time and thus enabling continuous operation. It utilizes an industri- al-grade toolchanger, computers and touch screens for improved reliability. It makes metrology-grade mea- surements with accuracy to 0.030 mm and resolution of 0.050 mm. It has high repeatability and traceable certificates. According to the company, the product's NEMA 12 certification ensures reliability. | Creaform | 855-939-4446 | creaform3d.com
