FEED IT. HOLD IT. COOL IT. MOVE IT. CLEAN IT. share cnc data to save time, materials & money LNS America, Inc. 513-528-5674 sales@Insamerica.com www.LNS-america.com Let's say you run a batch of parts requiring a 5" length of expensive bar stock, leaving a 4" length remnant. You can't make another 5" part, but you don't want to waste material. Reprogramming the lathe and barfeeder would interrupt production and add labor cost. But what if the turning machine and barfeeder could fgure out how to make another part from that remnant? Well, now they can. LNS e-Connect is a database and data transfer system that enables a CNC turning machine and an LNS barfeeder to share real-time information. Users can create a library of 500 parts programs and store them in the barfeeder's PLC. If, after each part is machined, the production-scheduling program (if available on the CNC machine) sees that there is not enough material to make the next part, the system selects another part to make from the remnant. From the CNC command, the barfeeder then automatically changes over to eliminate downtime. To make life even easier, operators can call up any part program by number and the barfeeder sets up automatically with no need to enter data into the barfeeder control. There's much more to know about e-Connect, such as using an Ethernet connection for remote communications including fault alerts for lights-out production. So go to www.LNS-america/news to download the white paper. Or contact your LNS representative. 0614 LNS.indd 1 5/5/14 12:45 PM
